What you choose to save

Crabby Mommy stores your verified phone number, family names and food preferences, recipe exclusions, grocery budget, meal plans, saved recipes and links, pantry inventory, price estimates, grocery checkmarks, and photos you upload. Shared-kitchen invitations also store the phone number you invite. Technical request information, including IP addresses and rate-limit records, helps protect sign-in and prevent misuse.

How we use it

We use this information to open your account, remember your kitchen, suggest meals, calculate an estimated grocery list, recognize ingredients in photos, import recipes, and share your kitchen when you choose. Recipe and grocery suggestions are based on the information you provide; check ingredient labels and actual store prices.

Who helps run the service

Cloudflare provides hosting and stores kitchen records and private images. Telnyx verifies phone sign-ins by text message. OpenAI processes food preferences for planning, photos you submit for recognition, and recipe ingredients for conversion. Planning and scanning requests use the API’s store: false setting. When a recipe has no usable publisher photo, OpenAI may generate a labeled preview from its title, ingredients, and directions. These service providers process information under their own service and privacy terms.

When you import a recipe, our server reads the public recipe page and may copy its published photo for your kitchen. We do not send your kitchen account credentials to recipe publishers. Opening an original recipe link takes you to that publisher’s website and its privacy practices.

Sharing with your spouse

Sharing is optional. Only the invited, verified phone number can accept an invitation. Once accepted, both people can view and change the kitchen’s preferences, plans, grocery list, recipes, inventory, and photos. Inviting someone does not send an invitation text. A spouse can leave, and the owner can remove access. The spouse’s original kitchen remains saved separately.

Your device and your choices

The iOS app stores its sign-in in Keychain. The website uses a secure session cookie. Recipe images may be held temporarily in memory for faster display. Camera and photo selection are optional; you can enter ingredients manually. The sample kitchen does not upload photos or save account changes. We do not include advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and we do not sell your kitchen information.

Retention and deletion

Your saved kitchen stays available until you remove content or delete your account. In the iOS app, open Family → Privacy & account → Delete my account. This deletes your phone account, its saved kitchen records, and its stored images. If you joined your spouse’s kitchen, deleting your account leaves their kitchen intact. If you own a shared kitchen, deleting it ends your spouse’s access while preserving their personal account. Limited security records may be retained to prevent abuse; service providers may retain records according to their policies.
